You probably already know that if you accept payment online or collect other sensitive information, website security is important to protect your customers private information. Having the locked padlock icon can even help build trust, making users more comfortable buying from you online.
But did you know, even if you don’t sell anything online, your website needs an SSL certificate and a locked padlock icon? There are a couple really important reasons for this. Some web browsers like Google Chrome have started flagging sites with no SSL certificate as “not secure”. Visitors to these sites may see a “not secure” message near where the locked icon would be.
